The Society AGM will be held via Zoom, on Thursday 7 September, 5.00pm Australian Eastern Time / 7.00pm NZ Time.
The following motion to amend the Society’s constitution will be put to ther meeting
Motion: That section 18(2) of the ANZMapS Constitution be amended to read ‘(2) The office bearers of the Society are the President, Vice President, Secretary and Business Manager. No member shall hold the same office bearer position for more than six consecutive years.’
Explanation: Following the Special Meeting held in May, members agreed that action was needed to ensure a smooth transition to a new committee at this year’s AGM, and to reflect changes in the operation of the society, such as the growth in online communications and events, and the need to promote wider participation by members. In the short term, the motion below enables the extension of the period for which offices can be held from four to six years, and will enable transition to a new committee at the AGM. It is envisaged that the incoming committee after the AGM will address broader operational issues, and any further constitutional proposals that may be needed would be subsequently put to members. The change sought in the motion put to the AGM in September may be further modified in that wider updating process.
