ANZMapS Webinar: Student showcase – Making sense of place through personal connection to location, Mon 21 Nov 12.00-1.30pm AEST via Zoom

The Australian and New Zealand Map Society (ANZMapS) invites you to attend our second (free!) webinar for 2022: “Making sense of place through personal connection to location”

Join us for a series of three short presentations about current research being undertaken by Geospatial Science students at RMIT University, Melbourne.

Helen Simpson uses the narrative of an Australian World War II bomber pilot to explore how emotional experiences can be analysed and mapped to locations.

Joanna Gardener examines individual and shared experiences that shape both place and sense of place. The neighbourhood of Fitzroy North in Melbourne is used to investigate the role of mapping through scientific cartography, design and artistic expression.

Erin Koletsis surveys the challenges experienced by map illiterate pedestrians in an unfamiliar urban environment, resulting in the development and testing of a proof-of-concept wayfinding application.
